Prince Dance Institute (PDI) is offering more than twenty-five performing arts classes at Kahilu Theatre in Kamuela and the Honoka‘a Hongwanji Mission in Honoka‘a during its Spring Semester. Enrollment for classes is open now at www.princedanceinstitute.com. The semester starts Tuesday, January 9 and runs weekly through Thursday, April 25.
The disciplines of dance, theatre, music, and acrobatics are represented in the PDI curriculum, with classes available for all ages and skill levels. The semester concludes with the Prince Dance Institute production of “Perspektives” at Kahilu Theatre on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5.
“This year we are collaborating with the West Hawaii Mediation Center (WHMC) for our spring show, ‘Perspektives’. Once a month the WHMC has come to our school to work with students and teachers on communication skills, mediation of conflict, and problem solving styles,” said Angel Prince, PDI Director.
“Our teachers will put this knowledge, along with the students’ experiences with conflicts, into ‘Perspektives’, which will take the viewer from a micro level to a macro level of conflict, and its resolutions. The Spring Semester is always buzzing with excitement in preparation for our big performance in May, it’s a great time to be part of Prince Dance Institute,” said Ms. Prince.
Prince Dance Institute is also excited to welcome Erin Kawakami to its faculty. Ms. Kawakami was born and raised on the Big Island and educated in dance, both locally and on the mainland at Joffrey Ballet and Ballet West, at the University of Utah, the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo. Ms. Kawakami will be teaching Ballet 1,2 and 3 for PDI.
