Celtica Pipes Rock will return to the Honokaa People’s Theatre on April 5 for one of their high-energy concerts. This will mark their fourth concert on the Big Island. Ticket info below.
Celtica is an international ensemble, and features pipers Duncan Knight and Jane Espie from Scotland; guitarist Gajus Stappen, bassist Harald Weinkum and drummer Thomas Cadek from Austria; and violinist Aya Georgieva from Bulgaria.
Audiences always enjoy a variety of fun music at Celtica Pipes Rock concerts. Given their varied set lists, audiences get to hear a blend of Scottish favorites—including jigs, ballads, drinking songs and classic love songs—in addition to modern rock classics such as “We Will Rock You,” “Smoke on the Water” and “Thunderstruck” and a variety of original songs as well.
Piper Duncan Knight commented on playing the Honokaa People’s Theatre: “The slope in the auditorium gives everyone in the audience a great view of the stage as well as allowing us to see them really well. The floor space between the audience and the stage does leave a bit of a gap between us, but last time round we managed to entice people up out of their seats and dancing, which really created a great atmosphere. Hopefully we’ll encounter the same enthusiasm again this time.”
In 2013, Celtica played at most of the biggest U.S. Celtic Music Festivals: Grandfather Mountain HGs, Pleasanton HGs, Newport Celtic Rock Festival, Longs Peak (CO), in addition to another extended European tour, including Spain, France, Netherlands, Germany, and Italy.
